It comes as no surprise to those of us who know and love pit bulls that they are intelligent, loyal and willing to please people. The media reporting of pit bull attacks has been prejudicial in recent years and the public rarely learn of the positive traits associated with this wonderful breed. Michael Vick’s pit bulls get a second chance - Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to run a dogfighting operation. Headlines described the dogs as “menacing.” Some animal rights groups called for the “ticking time bombs” to be euthanized as soon as Vick’s case was closed. Instead, the court gave Vick’s dogs a second chance. U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson ordered each dog to be evaluated individually. Read the full article here.

Saving Michael Vick’s Dogs - More than a year after being confiscated from Vick’s property, Leo, a tan, muscular pit bull, dons a colorful clown collar and visits cancer patients as a certified therapy dog in California. Hector, who bears deep scars on his chest and legs, recently was adopted and is about to start training for national flying disc competitions in Minnesota. Teddles takes orders from a 2-year-old. From near death to top dog - MARYSVILLE, Wash. – A Washington State Patrol drug detection dog has just received a prestigious award. Moto is a canine with a nose for drugs. Moto was rescued by a group called “Law Dogs USA” in Olympia. They take pit bulls like Moto who show promise, and train them to be drug detection dogs. Read the article and watch the video here.
